About us

Alexandros Megapanos was born in Athens in 1960.  His background represents a solid educational foundation paired with extensive hands-on training. He studied Biochemical Engineering at the  Institut Meurice of the  Haute Ecole Lucia de Brouckere  in Brussels where he specialized in Fermentation Industries.  After that he went to Bordeaux where he studied Viticulture and Enology in the University of Bordeaux II and worked in several wineries in France and in Greece.

In 1990 he established his own winery in Spata, Attica, with bottling facilities and an oenological laboratory.  In 1997 the winery moves to privately owned brand new premises in Pikermi, Attica.  The driving philosophy of Alexandros Megapanos is to produce a limited quantity of excellent quality wines from renowned wine –producing areas of Greece (PDO).  He aims to value the local character of these wines and emphasize the particular characteristics of each year.  He brings to winemaking a singular palate paired with an intuitive, educated and visionary approach.

He was the chairman of ENOAA (Attica Vineyard Wine Producers Association) for six years and a contributor in many projects aiming to develop the wine production of the region, like the “Wine Roads of Attica”.

The winery is located in the heart of Mesogian plains, east of Mount Hymettus. It is just 20 km from Athens which facilitates many wine lovers to visit the winery and participate in its activities. The Athens International Airport is only 6 km away and a traveler from abroad can easily visit us.
